Dial 2-1-1

Get reliable information on community and social services in Ontario. It is your first stop for information about child care, language classes, job searches, housing, emergency shelters, services for persons with disabilities, home support, legal assistance, financial assistance, and more.

Dial 3-1-1

Access City services to get consistent, uniform and accountable responses to non-emergency municipal services. The Contact Centre is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. but open 24 hours for urgent issues*.

Call to report these issues:
• Broken water mains*
• No water*
• Sewer back-ups*
• Flooding*
• Defective traffic lights*
• Stop sign knocked down*
• Bylaw services such as noise complaints, parking enforcement or animal control services*
• Discarded needles*
• Graffiti*
• Health issues such as outbreaks*

Call to get information about:

• New or replacement blue or black box required
• Garbage pick-up
• Building permits

Dial 9-1-1

The 9-1-1 system is the core of Ottawa’s emergency-response network which includes police, paramedics (ambulance) and fire. Call 9-1-1 to report a life-threatening medical emergency, a crime in progress, or a fire. Be prepared to answer:

• What
• Where
• When
• Why
• The address from where they are calling

Ottawa Police (non-emergency)

• Call 230-6211 for serious crimes and non-life-threatening emergencies
• Call 236-1222 for administration or community police centres.
• Call 613-236-1222 x7300 to report theft, property damage, missing person or stolen vehicle.
